The XBox seems to be doing pretty well.

Despite the fact the division's quarterly revenue went from $571 million in 2005 to $1.056 billion in all its new income evaporated. Its quarterly operating loss went from $175 million in 2005 to $388 million in 2006."
However with the Games console Microsoft can make money from Game sales and liscensing. Since Apple has already admitted that the iTMS has razor thin profits, they won't be able to duplicate that revenue stream in this area.

I think this a threat, but I think Apple may have this covered.

Getting my first Mac with this refresh! Saved enough several months ago, but kept an eye on the buyers guide on this forum. Hopefully my wait will have been worth it!

Regardless if you believe that you can install Vista Home under VMWare or Parallels, the real legal problem is MS has put VMWare and Parallels under legal notice that they may not write their software to allow the operation of Vista Home under their products, else they will be sued for contributory infringement.
So, technical theory aside, if MS has the legal right to restrict such behavior, there will be no way VMWare or Parallels will produce such software, otherwise MS will sue them out of existence.

Well, I just had to wipe my hands to type this after eating my nachos, so i wouldn't mind not touching it, so I could still be eating....that being said..this is too weird...A bar rumor. I was out last weekend and a friend told me about a friend of his with an Apple powerbook prototype that he is testing that uses exactly that. It's a three dementional, no touching, control. I guess it works with sensors behind the screen and in between the keys on the keyboard. You can write in the air, move items, etc. I wish I can say it was first hand that I saw this, so you have to take it as it is...only a rumor...BUT it does fit into this thread.

That is really, really ugly. Like, really ugly. I cannot imagine having that brown turd interface open on my second monitor all day... blargh!

It's great that Apple seems to be taking GPUs more seriously in this refresh. The base iMac has the HD6750M which is the high-end GPU option for the MacBook Pro and a solid mid-range GPU rather than being stuck with integrated or low-end discrete GPUs. An the HD6970M is the top-end mobile GPU, rather than the second-to top that Apple usually uses. It's also nice that Apple actually admits they are using mobile GPUs now to avoid confusion.
It's too bad that Apple skimped on the RAM in the mid-range models which should have 1GB. The 2GB HD6970M option is nice though.

I signed up for this the day that it was announced (quite a while back now), but no invite :( Perhaps I selected the wrong option (Developer) from the dropdown on the signup form.
Well I guess that it will come soon enough. Though from what I've seen it seems to be closer to VMWare Player than VMWare Workstation, which would be a little disappointing. It's the workstation features that are missing from Parallels, and why I've been so eagerly awaiting the arrival of VMWare's product.

AT&T has hands down the worst service I have ever experienced.
It is as though they were operating in an emerging mobile phone world sometime in the early 80's when phones were the size of a Sat phone or you carried it in its own portable case.
In all the years I was with Verizon I had maybe 10 dropped calls.
They should be ashamed of themselves. But really what do they care, they have the iphone exclusively for the time being.
I must say this reflects poorly on Apple who picked these idiots in the first place.
Honestly, on a day to day basis, I think about going back and just giving up, the service is just terrible and I live in NYC! Where there are towers everywhere, and I usually have 5 bars.
Despicable profit seeking, customer service unfriendly whores is what they are!

Three to five years to pay off? In that time frame Apple will be miles ahead of Microsoft, as usual. Actually, Apple is currently miles ahead of Microsoft, go figure.

I don't see them enlarging the screen by a mere .2" it seems illogical to me. Plus the mock up really sucks lol surely Apple would come up with something much more appealing then this. My money is on the iPhone 5 to be nearly identical to the iPhone 4 except with better insides :)

I have a feeling the next version of FCP will be more affordable, something a bit more expensive than FCE is. And then Apple will K.O. FCE.
Haven't heard of any official live streams but maybe a rouge one will pop up on Justin.tv or ustream or wait for something official on Apple's site.
So basically, the new FCP is becoming the next FCE for prosumers and Apple is abandoning the professional market.

So sincere curiosity here: I've read the reviews and it seems like this browser can't do all the Flash-related stuff a personal would normally want to do, ranging from some popular video sites like Hulu to Flash games. I'm not missing Flash on my iPhone or iPad one bit, but I'm also a little curious at this browser's success. Is it mostly people downloading something because they feel like they're getting a thing they were told they couldn't get? Or does this product actually offer something excellent?
