I originally waited for the white version (back when it was only delayed until "late summer".) but once September rolled around, I just decided to wait until the 5 came out. With the rumors of the 5 being delayed until fall, I might have to seriously consider some backup plans. I'd prefer to stick with an iPhone, but the 3GS is getting long in the tooth and I will not sign a contract for outdated hardware.
It's not really outdated in the sense that it is still the best and latest iPhone out there. But I know what you are getting at.

The artists must be thrilled
If they sell more songs, amass larger fanbases and get more people going to live events and concerts I bet they'd be thrilled too. (Norolleyes)

Your definition of a "professional" app seems mighty arbitrary, even to the extent of excluding most applications that exist. Specialized databases that are designed for a specific industry wouldn't meet your definition. Computer-Aided-Machining (CAM) software (which is only useful in one industry) wouldn't meet your definition. I could go on, but I think you get my point.
No, I don't get your point. CAM software is used in a variety of industries. Auto companies, airline companies, boat industries, tools industries, machine shops, agricultural industries. But if the CAM software is a mature useful standard in those industries it is probably a very capable pro app. Like wise customized databases would not be a pro app in itself. The database program used is the pro app not the specific database.
So now you're adding another level of definition to what it takes to be a "professional" app? Some percentage of people have to know about it? And where do you draw the line? Gee, I guess this means that any start-up company trying to produce a new professional application is doomed because how can they ever reach this percentage upon the release so their product can be considered "professional"?
It is not another level of defiintion. Industry standard implies that most professionals use it, Doesn't it?
Yes, it is very very difficult for a startup company to produce a competitive pro app in a mature industry. It takes several years for a product to mature and recieve user feedback and multiple modifications before I would classify it as "Pro". That is why these are difficult markets to crack.

It's awesome Apple is making a base iMac so powerful, a i5 Quad for 1199$ shows that apple is going to be having faster i7's in the future for the high end.

I want a way to see how much space the trash is taking up before I empty it. Is there a way? There was in OS 9 and OS 8.
It's quite simple:

it looks to me that we are still ranked 59. and the next group is about to pass us!
but yes, talking about it more here helps out quite a bit. the more we interact here, the better
We lost our spot again. We passed Team Lithuania for a brief time as yesterday was a big day for us and a bad one for them.

Luckily for you, your parents didn't share your sentiment.

If Apple is making a TV, it's better be 3D, because I already have a HDTV and the next purchase is going to be a 3D one.
Ha you would! I see you even purchased a "HiFi". 1 of what 50 sold?

The real question is - will the back lit keyboard be reintroduced? I sure hope so. Couldn't care less about gaming but I want to see what I type in a meeting room (and don't get started with the whole "learn to type" BS)...

If it's connections to your laptop, that's a win right there. Once you've set up the other connected devices, you won't have to mess with them whenever you go somewhere with the laptop.
The only connection I want going to my laptop is power. Everything else needs to be wireless. That is winning, duh. ;)

How do you know they are not on it? You don't right? The source of these reports is the people who want to sell you their security software. They capitalize on our fear. The author notes he spent most of his time on Mac and Linux. Very little time was spent on Windows/Vista. Well, that makes sense if you are trying to sell software. Everyone already installs it on Windows. No sales opportunities there. So, go scare yourself a new market with the people who do not need it. It even works better if you can create some mistrust amongst the user base. Just plant the seeds of doubt the manufacturers are unwilling, or unable to protect them. You are their savior.
I do not have a Pollyanna view on this. I have no doubts that threats exist and an aggressive, on-going effort is crucial. But, the real solution is to fight this crime with the seriousness it deserves. That means mandatory prison sentences, equal liability for facilitation and for profiteering, etc.
dear lord, thank you! somebody else with some common sense. Its like all different repots come out about anything related and people go up in arms about it but never pay attention to who did the research. Just because its "published" does it somehow make it fact? What did the publisher have to gain from this? More so then often, you will note that the report that came out that says "chewing gum premotes healthy teeth" is indeed sponsered and funded and done by Stride Gum. Surprise! Same in this case, lets premote a few security flaws and every single news site will pick up on it by 3 days and bam, now we can advertise our Antivirus.

Good little speed upgrade, though many will complain about no Mag latch or easy access HD bay. Hopefully I should be getting one soon. :)
